Special Teams Fiend

The Bear fan favorite and special teams expert Garrett Wolfe was arrested Sunday. He was charged with retail theft, disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest with violence. Allegedly this arrest stemmed from a disputed Bill at a Miami Beach nightclub. The bill totaling $1, 572 included three bottles of champagne which explains him slurring his speech before getting into a scuffle with police officers and bouncers alike.

None of this bodes well for the third round draft pick in 2007 facing free agency this year. With another black mark on his resume, he was fined $7,500 for a horse collar against the Raiders in the preseason last year, his 18 tackles on special teams become that much less significant.

Last year he tied Brian Iwuh for second most tackles on special teams, but if you were a NFL owner (who by all means, has higher priorities right now), is it worth picking up the baggage to get a 5’7 player who has to stand on a stool to reach the top shelf?

Yea, didn’t think so. Good luck Garret Wolfe, chances are you’ll need it.
